BaZi · Four Pillars of Destiny

Chinese Astrology, Read in Depth

Your year animal is a quarter of one pillar. This reading interprets your full Four Pillars chart — Day Master, Ten Gods, element balance, and ten-year luck chapters — as one coherent written portrait, computed from your exact birth moment.

Pattern language, not fortune-telling: tendencies and timing textures you can test — never fixed outcomes.

What the reading covers

Your Day Master

The element that stands for you in the chart — made vivid and specific, with what feeds it and what drains it.

All four pillars

Year, month, day, and hour — each pillar's stem, branch, animal, and hidden stems read in its own life domain.

The Ten Gods pattern

How your chart tends to move, decide, produce, and relate — including what's notably present and absent.

Element balance

Which of the five elements run heavy or thin in your chart, and the practical textures of that weather.

Ten-year luck chapters

Both traditional walks of your luck pillars, framed as timing textures to test against your own history.

Without a time, the reading works with three pillars and says so honestly — it never invents your hour pillar.

Traditionally the 10-year luck-pillar direction depends on year-stem polarity and gender. Skip it and the reading presents both walks.

Frequently asked questions

What is a BaZi (Four Pillars) reading?

BaZi — the Four Pillars of Destiny — is the deep layer of Chinese astrology beneath the year animal. Your birth year, month, day, and hour each form a pillar of one heavenly stem and one earthly branch. The reading interprets your Day Master, the Ten Gods pattern, your element balance, and your ten-year luck pillars as one portrait.

How is this different from my Chinese zodiac animal?

The year animal is one twelfth of one pillar — a quarter of the chart at best. A full BaZi chart has four pillars, eight characters, hidden stems inside each branch, and a Day Master that represents you specifically. Two people with the same year animal usually have very different charts.

Is this fortune-telling? Will it predict my future?

No. Synthesis reads BaZi as a pattern language: tendencies, textures, and timing rhythms — never fixed outcomes. Luck pillars are presented as ten-year timing textures you can test against your own experience, not predictions of events.

Do I need my exact birth time?

The hour pillar needs a birth time. Without one, the reading works honestly with the three known pillars and says so — it never invents an hour. Year, month, and day pillars are unaffected.

What exactly do I get for $28?

A long-form written reading (typically 3,000–4,000 words) of your complete Four Pillars chart, a downloadable PDF, and 30 days of full Synthesis Circle membership — the chart-aware chat guide and community.

Which conventions does the chart use?

Li Chun (around Feb 4) as the year boundary, the twelve jié solar terms as month boundaries computed astronomically for your exact birth instant and timezone, civil midnight as the day boundary, and local clock time for the hour pillar. If your BaZi year animal differs from your popular zodiac animal, the reading explains why.
