How astrocartography works

Your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky from one point on Earth. Astrocartography asks a different question: what would that same moment look like from everywhere else?

For each planet, there are places where it would have been exactly rising, setting, at the top of the sky (midheaven), or at the bottom (IC) at your birth moment. Those places form lines across the map — your lines.

Living on or near a line doesn't change who you are. The chart is the same; the emphasis shifts. A Venus line doesn't hand you a relationship, and a Saturn line isn't a punishment — each place tends to turn up the volume on themes you already carry.

The four line types

Rising line

Where this planet was rising on the eastern horizon at your birth moment — its themes color identity, presence, and how you're met.

Setting line

Where this planet was setting on the western horizon — its themes tend to arrive through relationships and the people you draw.

Midheaven line

Where this planet was at the highest point of the sky — its themes come forward in career, visibility, and public life.

IC line

Where this planet was at the lowest point of the sky — its themes settle into home, roots, and private life.

Astrocartography questions, answered honestly

Is this astrocartography calculator really free?

Yes. Your full map — all four line types for all ten planets — is free, and no account or email is needed. The paid reading goes deeper on your chart as a whole, but the map itself is yours.

How close to a line do I have to be to feel it?

Most practitioners work with an orb of roughly 300–500 km. Closer tends to be stronger, but a line a couple hundred kilometers away is still very much part of your picture. Between lines, a place carries a blend rather than one loud theme.

Should I move to my Venus or Jupiter line?

We'd never tell you to move anywhere off a map alone. Lines describe emphasis, not fate — your natal chart, your circumstances, and the practical realities of a place matter at least as much. Treat the map as one honest input among many, not an instruction.

What's the difference between astrocartography and a relocated chart?

The map shows your angular lines across the whole world at a glance. A relocated chart recasts your entire birth chart for one specific place — new house positions, new angles. The two work together: the map for scanning, the relocated chart for deciding.

Which lines are good and which are bad?

None of them, and all of them. Jupiter lines are traditionally called fortunate and Saturn lines demanding, but a Saturn line can be exactly where someone builds the most durable chapter of their life. What a line brings out depends on what you bring to it.
